My chicks (9+ weeks old) waste so much of the crumble. Does anyone sell pelleted all flock? My TSC does not, apparently. They can eat raisins, so I'm thinking they can eat pellets, I just can't find someone selling it. I'm in northern central Alabama, 2 hours south of Nashville.

I had the same issue, but mine got better about it as they got older. I haven't seen pellets that are not layer.

Me neither, but the Nutrena website shows Flock Raiser Pellets. But--they don't tell you where it's available. You put in a zip code and it shows all their other products and says not all of them are available at all locations. Not helpful.

What kind of feeder are you using? If it hangs, is it raised up to about back height of the chickens? If it's to low, they will be able to bill it out easier.
I use Starter/Grower crumble all the time in a DIY no waste feeder and don't have a problem.

A different idea would be to ferment it , it gets soft and mushy and the digging threw it stops!

Or just wet it down before serving , it’s an excellent way to give vitamins or vinegar or add seeds to food .

I feed mine in a pie plate that is usually clean and shiny every morning

my feeder is raised high enough..... I have it at the height that I use for my adult birds, since the chicks can reach it and I'm feeding all flock now instead of layer pellets. They still make a mess.

But, the real mess is where I'm rehabbing my blind chick. She kind of waves her beak back and forth until she bumps into something, then takes a peck. So, her crumble is in a saucer on the floor of her cage and her water is in the other corner of the cage. To help her find it, I put a dish of food/water on the outside of her cage with the same thing so she'll hear the others pecking and go over and start pecking herself. My goal is for her to hear them and follow, hoping to eventually get her out of her cage and into the yard.

That seems to be working, but they all sweep it out of the bowls now and tend to stand in the water. I know I won't stop all of this until she learns, then I can raise the dishes a bit every so often. She'll perch on the edges and poop in them. The water is already raised up enough that she doesn't perch on it anymore.

My rehab is going well. She spent a couple hours outside yesterday in a playpen so she could be on the grass, but spent most of her time standing in the water (it's very hot here). Then, the last 2 nights, one of the chicks has spent the night just outside her cage, so last night I put him in with her so they could snuggle. I"m hoping someone becomes a guide bird for her. She's a buff orpington pullet and I have 4 more bo's. They all look like they would do the job. The one sleeping with her is an egyptian fayoume cockerel who I'm trying to rehome since he's a beautiful bird and I don't need another boy, but being a good friend to her would cause me to keep him.

I would fermented or wet it to an oatmeal consistency. They eat everything this way, 0 wasted feed.

I'm afraid that wet feed will get moldy in this heat and humidity. I let them feed freely all day, put it out in the morning and check it again when I get home from work. The free rangers can get by if the food runs out, but my blind one is in a cage and I worry about her.

I have been fine doing it with my birds I feed them a big bowl in morning and evening. They eat it all so it's not sitting out rotting. I definitely save feed doing it.
