Wasted Feed

i use gravity feeders and i have thought about putting some two inch hole fencing over where the food is so they can only put their head straight in and eat. i think this will alleviate them putting their beak in the food and raking sideways and spilling all of their food out.

I've watched for a while. We use gravity feeders that have a ring around the tub from where the feed is taken. The turkeys often rake from side to side but the main spillage volume is caused by them pulling their heads back from the feeder with their beaks full but open. A good proportion of feed drops out onto the floor.

I think I'll try to cover the feed tray with fence wire and add a tray on the floor to catch the spillage. It needs to be big enough to do that but small enough to avoid the simultaneous pooping.
