I have a small coop (4x4) with 4 hens. It has 2 nesting boxes that are attached so they are actually outside the coop but the girls can go in to pay their rent. I have always kept their food and water in the coop with them but now that they are bigger (8 months old) they seem to keep bumping into the water because the bedding is wet under the waterer when I go out in the morning to let them out. I was wondering if I could move their water from the coop and just hang it in the run. They would not have access to it the first couple hours in the morning. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I don't hang the waterer. It sits on 12" x 12" pavers in warm weather and a heated base in the winter. 20181021_092420.jpg . 20191207_092057_resized.jpg .
I keep the waterer near the people door. Both of my coops are small. GC

Any thoughts?
IMO they really should have water available every hour they are awake.
Some pics would help.
Not hanging it might solve the problem...and maybe a smaller waterer?
