3-4 year old cream legbar with what i think is water belly, she has had it since this spring and still eating and being boss. She lays bantam size eggs 5 days a week. i clean her rear once a week since its so yukky but try not to pick her up much since its got to be uncomfortable.
then i have a hen who lays soft eggs every few days, i only know because its found in the poop tray in the morning partially eating, no idea which hen but likely one of the cream legbars.
and finally two hens that turned a year old in spring. the other two molted on time, but these two never did. they are looking preety bad with no new feathers coming in. Laying well though and eating oyster shell all the time. they look like those photos of hens stuck in small cages, well not that bad, but with two roosters they dont look great. One has a saddle on to help with the rooster, but it doesnt seem to help much. only one rooster when they are in the coop/run though as they dont get along unless they are free ranging.
everyone free ranges at least 3 times a week and fed a corn, soy gmo free layer feed with free choice oyster shell and eggs shells. I put the feed in water so they eat all the nutrients and not just pick out the grains. they do get sunflower seeds a handful 1 time a week and oat starts, but they dont seem to really like them.
I dont see any lice, they were dewormed 2x . .i tested for mereks as i had a couple randomly die this year and the year before i had a hen not be able to walk around before she died/culled:(

In hot weather a dirty vent may attract flies and they can get infested with maggot larvae that cause flystrike. So I might clean her vent as needed, and try giving her some plain yogurt or a bit of cottage cheese to see if it firms up her poop. You can trim some fluff from her vent area if needed. Perhaps the 2 have not yet molted but are getting feathers picked out by others. They sometimes do this if they are bored and not getting outside to roam, or if they need more protein. Did they stop laying at any time? Molting hens stop laying eggs for a month or 2 until their feathers grow back in. I would give the hen who lays soft eggs some calcium citrate 300-600 mg with vitamin D 3 orally once a day for up to 7 days to see if it helps her shells become hard again. She may have an issue with her shell gland in her oviduct.

i did trim the rear feathers really short, im trying to watch for fly strike, but so far been lucky. Its in the 60-70's here.
No the two year olds havent slowed down on laying since they started at like 9 months, while the other two siblings molted this spring. well they didnt grow any new ones in and the old ones are just breaking off with being housed with a roo the neck feathers are just about gone. once in a while i see like one or two little new feathers but thats it.
they eat bugs when free ranging? i will try the yogurt as my sickly doe gets yogurt every day.
all the other birds molted on time.
