Water belly emergency...please help!

@Eggcessive I know this is a duck but do either of you have any experience with this in a chicken? If this is a hematoma it could resolve on its own. I wish I could help but I have never seen anything like this here on BYC or in my flock. Ascites yes but not a Hematoma.

I tried draining the fluid and it appears to have quite a bit of blood in it. So I stopped, until hopefully I can get a better idea of what's going on. I wish I could afford to take her to an avian vet.

One of my hens once died and had both fatty liver disease and ascites. So it could be that there is blood inside the abdomen making the abdominal fluid blood tinged. Fatty liver causes hemorrhage and blot clots around the liver. Just a guess. I would give supportive care, and if she is suffering, consider putting her down. A home necropsy might then give you some answers.

I think at this point I'd put her down. It's clear at this point whatever is going on is very severe and even if you were to somehow get her stable, it would probably flare up again

If she were mine, I'd just put her down. Water belly is chronic, & usually ends with the bird being put down in the end despite how many times they get drained.
I would drain it as many times as long as she is doing well afterwards.
I have a chicken with it right now. The vet is 65 miles away, but I want to do it myself. I have no helper tho. Let me know what happened with your beautiful duck.

She's going to keep suffering from fluid build up.
