Water bottles are the way to go!

You know, it just dawned on me that we had huge macaw nipples when I worked at the parrot store....they were called Lixit water bottles. I'm not sure if they're much bigger than the rabbit nipples, but it seemed like they were. You could probably find them online.

Good luck finding a home for your blind chick, I'm a sucker for damaged goods too. Right now we have that ugly rooster, and a really funky leghorn rooster that seems a little brain damaged, but he's so weird and funny that I can't bring myself to cull him.

I found some bottles with bigger tubes, but they used a toggle rather than a ball bearing. I wasn't sure the hens would figure out how to move the toggle since they usually tap the ball bearing.

I think the lixits had ball bearings, but this was 10 years ago so I'm not even sure they still make them...of course, if the waterer is working good for you, then I'd stick with it..."if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!!

Thanks for the idea!! I was willing to try anything to stop the poopy water so I set up this idea and it's a hit!! My chicks LOVE it. I only have 4 chicks so I set 2 bottles and it's almost like waiting in line at the drinking fountain as kids! LOL!!

I use bottles for all the brooders, but once outside, they get the big water pans which are as easy as brush, dump, refill to get them all clean. I couldn't imagine wanting to fill up a half dozen water bottles every day, vs just tipping and filling 6 pans.
