Read the article this time instead of skimming. Some more thoughts: Are you testing the pH? Do you have a specific range you're looking for? You can add a little baking soda if your pH is too low. This will both raise the pH and create a buffer system. Or if your pH is good, you can lower it more using the methods described in the article, then add some baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to raise it again.
