Water-er and feeder pro's and cons

I prefer to use plastic waterers and feeders. Lightweight, cheap, and easy to clean. A galvanized container will work fine but I abandoned using galvanized containers/buckets years ago. When they are scratched or banged around, the galvanized coating is lost and no match for the rust process. I have several buckets in my junk pile with holes in them. Plastic is not the end all though since it can crack after many years of use.

PS. just checked out your website. You take some beautiful photographs! Hopefully you'll be gracing us with some great shots of your flock as they grow up.

Those work very well with a birdbath heater in them. Or if no heat source, you can bang the ice out of them without hurting them. They're virtually indestructible.

One problem is that roosters' wattles dangle in the water contributing to frostbite.
