Water feature with chickens?

So I realize this is an odd question, but my husband recently saw a garden with a waterfall/pond feature and now he wants one. We already have a terraced back yard, so there is a slope for a waterfall, but we also have free range chickens in the back yard. He's envisioning tranquil waterfall and I'm imagining liquified chicken poo and a constantly clogged filter. Anyone want to weigh in? Is there an alternative that would be more chicken-friendly?

We also live where mosquitos are a consideration, so there's that as well.

Ducks would be a problem with a waterfall/pond - chickens should not be a problem.

Can have that even without fowl in the water.
You'd want some safety features in case chickens wandered/fell into pond, like a ramp of some kind.
A pondless water fall might be worth looking into.
