Hi Guys
I have about 2 acres of yard my chickens run around. I have clean water in their coop, but I was wondering if I should leave water around the yard in various places, or will they just go back to the coop whenever they want a drink?

You might want to, just to make it easier for them. But I think they would come back.

They'll drink wherever the water is. It will be easier on them if you leave other sources of water, but harder on you. I guess it depends on what you feel like or have time for.

We have water in the run, plus a small pond (think bathtub sized) in the yard. I let them drink out of the pond until the mosquito larvae are about to hatch, then drain it, wait a day or so and then refill it. I do this perhaps 3-4 times during the summer.

They will drink from the mud puddles in your 2 acres. So yes, leave some clean water out hopefully they will drink less dirty water.
