Water For Snow?

Well..
They really need to have access to water anytime they have food. It's hard for them to swallow without water.
Can the chickens and ducks come out of the coop? I don't ever feed in water inside. But I don't have that kind of extreme weather here.
They can come out just fine! But the hole isn’t human sized. That’s why if they can replace snow for water for a tiny bit. Not for a couple days just for half a day or one day.

They probably will nibble a little snow in between times when their water is Frozen. But it is definitely not a substitute for drinking water.
I can't really give you a time frame as far as how long they can last without water.. in the winter when the days are short my Cayuga ducks get locked up around 5 or 6 and don't get let back out till 7:00 in the morning. They are perfectly fine for that long. But again they don't have access to food during that time either.

there is a little door where they can go in and out. They can get to snow whenever they want but it’s warm in there

I would just get a rubber bowl or small bucket and put it outside the coop door and try to refill it a couple times a day.

If you have heat, presumably you have power? We have 2 of these heated 2 gallon buckets, they are only 60 watt so they arent a huge draw and they keep the water from freezing, i have seen 10 below this winter and they remained clear. I feed in their coop, wish I didn’t but now doesn't seem the time to quit. I have one in there and one outside... also they decided the snow storm today was the perfect time for a swim... dorks. The buckets are nice as they are deep but not wide so it doesn’t really allow them to bathe in it. But is plenty deep enough for several duck heads to be submerged at once. I think they were about 40 bucks at tractor supply. Be sure to plug into a GFCI protected outlet, i use a big rubber bowl upside down to keep rain and snow off the plug and a little rock under it to keep it off the ground.

Hi guys! We had to melt the frozen ice all over to get into the coop. Now that we have almost 3 feet of snow it was hard to bring buckets over, after 2 hours I just barely filled up the water.
