Hey again,
Has anyone made one of those heaters out of a cookie tin and used it with one of those plastic waterers?
I use acv in my water and don't want to switch to metal.

I used to make a snuggle bottle for my chicks when I bred parrots. I used a large plastic jar like the ones filled with powder shake stuff. I drilled a hole in the top and put a fish tank heater in it. Then I covered it with some soft fleece.

Well now I'm thinking is there a way to use a fish tank heater to keep the chickens water unfrozen?

I've seen online where someone (I think it was on here somewhere, but not sure) had taken a concrete block and rigged a lamp kit to go inside the block. The waterer would sit on top of the block with the light underneath. I don't know how well it would work if your area gets super cold, but it seems like it should work.

I use cookie tin heaters with 1 gallon plastic waterers all winter. No problems. I use 40w light bulbs in mine.
