I tried look thru all the post but there are so many and couldn't find one that fit my situation. I have 6 chicks 4 sex link(i think still new to chicken breeds) and 2 bantums my problem is the "big" girls are starting to scratch around and end up throwing shavings in their waterer i've tried removing the shavings from around their water but it doesn't help so I thought maybe they needed more room so I moved them into a bigger box and that didn't help and i've tried raising it up a bit but when it did little Teeny can't reach it she's about 1/2 the size of the "big" girls but the same age they all get along great and if they are all asleep and I can't find Teeny she's usually under someones wing if that tells you how small she is.

I have my waterers on a two part shelf. Two boards on the bottom, side by side, and another board on top with the waterer on that. The boards are just long enough that the chicks could hop on up to be either head level or feet level with the water.

cool thanks I hadn't thought about making her a shelf to stand on i'll have to try that when i get home

I use hamster water drinker bottles for my chicks - clean water all the time! They're very cheap, so maybe you could use one in addition to your normal waterer... ?
