Water: In the coop vs in the run

I have a heavy plastic 2.5 gal waterer in the coop that runs on a thermostat to keep the water from freezing. I have a 1 gal dog bowl out in the run that also runs on a thermostat, so I don't have to stomp ice out of the water pan in the mornings. Just have to keep it filled. Both have been worth their price already this winter. With the temp at 3 degrees and wind chill minus 10-15 so far today I'm absolutely thrilled to have invested in both waterers. I have a second heated dog bowl on my back deck for the birds, and the dog when she's outside.

I have both waterers on bricks, to keep them high enough that litter etc doesn't get kicked into the water. I raise my feeder for the same reason.

Since I don't have electricity in my coop, does anyone know how to wire one of these thermostat controlled waterers for a battery?? Or is that a stupid question?
