Water logged chick?

I gave some electrolyte water. Dipped beak several times. I got a few chirps.. but she still has eyes closed but she did stand in my hand with eyes closed (head resting on my thumb) for five minutes.
Do you think I should put her under heat lamp or just hold her?
It doesn't have the energy needed from calories to keep it's eyes open... I hatch a LOT and these things happen.

If your scared to dip the beak, drip a few drops below the nostrils and the chick should gobble when it rolls around into the mouth. Plain water won't do it at this point. The electrolyte water or nutri drench is NEEDED. Energy (to open eyes or any other movement including breathing) comes from calories. But it needs to be warm also.

Keep checking for the pasty butt... it can rebuild quickly and is deadly fast. :fl

Get some vitamins in that water. If you have nothing else, crush and mix a bit of a regular multi vitamin in the water, and make sure it takes a sip or two.

I hatch a lot too and have to disagree with putting more water into a chick that is gasping, it'll just drown if it can't get the water down properly.

The vitamins/water mixture to make a feed mash will get the calories and the moisture needed to help it.
Just my opinion and personal experience though :)

Nutri drench is a great product. And made for things of this nature. Maybe try and I drop her to slowly get her water with the electrolytes or drench. Also this may not help because she’s not opening her eyes but when I had a two day old chick who couldn’t figure out exactly what her food wise I put a shiny penny in the bowl And a marble that obviously was too big for her to try to eat. But the shiny object attracted her to pack at it and after a while she realized oh that’s food. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her

  1. i have a seven day old chick.. yesterday chick walked around some. This morning it looked like chick was tired. It did get up and go to food. I'm not sure if it ate anything or just laid down . Maybe an hour later I saw chick opening And closing mouth. I dipped the very tip of the beak into water. Chick acted like she drank it but kept opening and closing mouth And a few minutes later had a bubble forming once in a while. The chick seems tired still and once in a while opens and closes beak. I haven't seen anymore bubbles for an hour and a half. I have been rubbing her back and where I think the crop is (rubbing her neck). Any suggestions?
I think your chick is too hot ..i had ducks and they would act this way when they got hot too...they are mostly panting like a dog because of how hot they are lol...move the heat lamp away some then try to keep moving it away to where she won't need it anymore...hope this helped

The chick died :( I did try to slightly lean chick up side down and rub its back. Drool/water.. some kind of liquid was coming out in bubbles. I wish I had thought of this in the beginning it might have helped.

Oh. When these things happen we always tend to look back and think about what we should’ve done first. You did the best anybody could’ve with an unknown and somewhat odd problem. I’m so sorry:hugsYou did the best anybody could’ve with an unknown and somewhat odd problem.

True. I'm just worried about the other chick. She runs away from the hen and when separated from the chick that died she chirps all the time. :( don't know if I can just bring in a chick that is with the momma hen so she can have company or not
