Water quality

Are chickens picky with water? We have VERY hard water where we live and its sandy, with dirt and lots of iron - will they drink it or do we have to buy clean water?

I think you will find given the choice most chicken would drink out of a mud puddle and be perfectly content...

Hard water is fine, but if you use nipples you very well might have issues with the sand and floaters, a sediment filter would be beneficial in this case...
