Yeah, but they'll still drink it, even if they aren't excited for warm water. It's also better for them to drink warmer water than cold water, especially during the summer

you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. They're chickens, they'll drink their warm water or go thirsty, LOL

If the vacuum action of the metal waterer has disappeared it's possible you're leaking some- but you would see the damp spot. Those can also leak slowly if they're not level. Or perhaps wild birds and other small critters are coming in to partake in the easy source. If you're going to be gone, definitely get more waterers. I just got an 8 gallon plastic one to have a big reserve. Some hook up to automatic waterers that are on a float system (like a toilet) so they're always full - but I don't like to have anything be attached to my water source in case it breaks. Some solve that issue by using a 5 gallon bucket to gravity feed it instead.
