Waterer & Feeder that takes up Little Floor Space in Coop

How big are the holes ? It looks like they could be a little smaller ???

I made the holes 2-1/8". Remember not to glue this pipe to the filler tubes so it can be rotated or replaced with other sizes and configurations.

How often do you guys have to replace the water in these large-volume drinkers?

I've got 28 rir chicks (8 weeks) and, not only do they demolish nearly one gallon per day, they also get it pretty nasty.. They have a tendency to go eat a bunch of starter, get starter all over their beaks, then dip their beaks and deposit the starter into the drinker..

I find I have to rinse the water every day or every other day which is why I am trying the system that Trylin mention on page 2 of this thread. I went with the Aqua Miser route but it was way over priced as suggested and you can make one much cheaper. I have not removed my old waterer just yet because I have not had time to observe if all the chickens have figured it out and it is close to 100 degrees today.

My husband made me a feeder that hangs on the wall, he is not a carpenter in no way and he said it was easy. Here is what we did.

I would like to make one but unsure where to buy nozzle. Do the chickens heve a hard time figuring out this type of waterer?

my feeders are gallon milk jugs with a hole cut on two sides. I have a sturdy wire pushed thru the top of the handle and turned downwards for a hanger. I hang them in the coop on two levels. The hens like to eat up on the roost at times. Away from the sneaky roo manuevers on the floor. lol. I have at least four of them made. i can carry them outside and hang them on the lattice work, or fencing or just set them on the ground. i know I know, but darn handy and cheap. I love recycling. And duck tape and bungee cords.
