So the wife and I have some chicks that are about to hatch and I was looking for a chick waterer that hung.. we always had so much stuff in the waterer if it set on the brooder floor... Instead of buying one I repurposed an old hummingbird feeder and did this...
Works like a charm and no $ spent lol

And it's just a bottom section of the hummingbird feeder nothing special... The plastic ones split apart so it makes it easy

My current brooding setup has the chicken feeder plastic bottoms that you can buy for 99 cents, and they can screw right on to a regular mouth mason jar(or be shimmied inside a wide mouth)... not expensive, but like you said, they sit on the ground and after about the two week mark, you’re constantly dumping the tray that gets filled with bedding!

I also have the problem at about 4 weeks of chicks perching on top of them... either pooping in it or knocking it over. Seems like this would fix that problem as well!

I love repurposing stuff! This is awesome!!!

I used a nipple waterer that I screwed into the bottom of a 20 oz soda bottle. But I absolutely love this idea! Genius!
That’s super smart too!!! My adult flock has a water bowl, but also a horizontal nipple waterer. And it wouldn’t be hard to hang a bottle with nipples in a brooder either. Great ideas!
