Waterer Ideas?

My chicks are 6 weeks old. they caught on to the nipple watering system very quickly, like 10 minutes quickly. I love the automatic waterer set up. no mess, no tending.

I would say go for nipples. The chickens catch on fast and its so much cleaner!

I started all of my chicks on the water nipples from day one. It doesn't take long at all for them to catch on. I love using 5 gallon buckets with the nipples on the bottom of the bucket because it keeps the water clean and it's easy to refill. The best part of it all, is that it's cheap and easy to make!

I got a 200 litre blue plastic barrel and put four of these in it at around 12" from the ground. The water lasts for ages, with a little Apple Cider Vinegar in it to prevent algae growth.

So ACV water has no effects on the nipple waterers? I am wanting to start nipple waterers but am unsure if I can use acv water because of the metal nipples.

I am having the same problem. I got the nipples also but have not started to use them yet. Thanks for the ideas and i am glad to hear they are successful.

This is a low pressure set up that hooks directly up to a faucet or garden hose with a pressure reducer valve. It's totally self sufficient! Not having to deal with water on a daily basis is WONDERFUL!

I bought my Horizontal Nipples off of Ebay from Solway Feeders games and poultry. He has 5 and 10 packs. I have 21 chickens, and 4 nipples are plenty for them.
