Waterer just overflows ?

Ok this might be a dumb question

I purchased one of those 3 gallon waters from farm store , it's the one with the red bottom, black screw on cap on top and the little cap you take off the bottom to start water flow.
I can't get the water to stop it just slowly runs out.
I put grease on o-ring and just can't get it.
Am I missing something ?? Lol

Well it don't matter how tight I go it still leaks.
I think in going to return it

I agree... I got a 1 gallon waterer that was formed so thin at the top, it was like see thru panties... Just waitin for the sun to finish it off...
