Is 3 gallon waterer enough for 7 chicken? I want to get the heated one bc we live in a colder area in the winter. Trying not to buy two

When I had 7 Barred Rocks a 3 gallon galvanized waterer lasts a week+. . I also have a waterer outside. GC

Yup that's fine, I also have about the same size for same number of birds. In winter I need to refill less than once a week, especially if there's snow or rain around.

A heated one sounds great. I am newbie and right now can’t stand the little waterer from tractor supply...ive spilled water everywhere 2-3 times Lol. My chicks are only week old and I’m ready to throw this waterer away! lol.

I know I've have the issue. Then when they get older they like to kick the shaving/poop around and it gets into the water. I hang it from the top of the brooder now. Haven't had an issue with it since.

Do you have the white one with red waterer base? Putting the lid on that upside down lol. I have 6 kiddos so to me I try to find efficiency. Looking at what to put in their coop..probably pvc pie ones with nipples or the cups.

Yes omg thing drives me crazy. That's a good idea.

I have 6 six month old RI hybrids and they drink about one pint each per day. But its only been 80 degrees or higher twice this year so far. I'm planning to put in a hanging bucket with nipples within a few weeks as the days get longer and warmer.
