FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -July 13, 2012 – PMI Nutrition International is initiating a voluntary recall of certain varieties of the AquaMax

feed products with specific lot codes listed below, due to the potential for elevated vitamin D levels.
The company is also expanding its previously announced voluntary recalls to include additional varieties of the Mazuri

and LabDiet

feed products with specific lot codes listed below due to analytical test results on additional lots of retained samples that indicate a potential for elevated levels of vitamin D. Elevated vitamin D levels may cause death, or otherwise be harmful to animals and fish if fed for extended periods potentially resulting in lack of interest in eating, weight loss and possible joint stiffness. These products are being added to those from earlier recalls announced on July 3, 2012 and July 6, 2012* which were initiated after receiving a small number of customer complaints which involved animal illness and small bird and guinea pig mortality.

Dealers have been contacted and asked to hold these products and to notify and retrieve the product from customers. The affected product should not be used, and where applicable, be returned to the retail dealer.

Lot numbers are laser printed on the back of each paper bag, near the top. Lot numbers are formatted as follows: APR= Month / 17=Day of Month / 12 =Year / 2 =Plant Code.

Any one had trouble with any of the other Purina feeds? My ducks wanted little to do with the last bag of Flockraiser I bought. Now I am wondering if there was a inherent reason why?

I just bought FR last week and they all been eating it fine. But this sure is scary.

I really do wonder about the last bag I bought, and Mildred getting sick, she seems find now....but they sure didn't want to eat that last bag of feed. The latest bag they are gobbling down. But now I am wondering whether I should find another feed.

We are limited to Purina in this part of the country. unless we pay shipping which is costly.

So glad Mildred is feeling fine again. Shew. I have had the ducks refuse feed. I hate losing the money, but abhor the loss of a duck. So if they think it's not right, I go with their opinion.

From what I read, there was way, way too much Vitamin D in the feed.

And, everyone, thanks so very much for picking up the thread, as the initial post was my last official act on the internet before our modem fried in a thunderstorm.
