Waterfowl Feed Recall 7/2012

ChristineR, I tried their feed for a month because it was considerably cheaper. Double the duck poop (at least - if not more!) and ducks just didn't seem as healthy. I switched back after only 1 month.
I wonder if it had molasses or Epsom salts in it (thinking laxatives). Neither here nor there. Just wondering.

Someone else noticed it on Facebook. Though, still, I would be careful with these feeds for now. I know of a few duckies that are seriously ill and a few mysterious deaths. At least two that I know have confirmed Vit. D toxicity.

Amiga if you havent read this before its a nice one on field peas. http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/ansci/livestoc/as1224w.htm
Thanks, CelticOaksFarm, I finally had a chance to follow this link.

I may have seen it some time this year, as I was planning to try growing some field peas. It is encouraging to note they turned out pretty good here in New England, in spite of very early warm temperatures and about ten weeks without much in the way of rain. I did irrigate for a few weeks with a drip hose. The bees loved the flowers.

That's very good to hear. We hope to try them as a winter crop here to see how they do. I figure I can plant in late September and by Nov/Dec should be able to let the goats and geese out on them to enjoy.

Thanks. I've been feeding 1/2 Mazuri and 1/2 Excel for the last 3 months or so. I haven't noticed any difference, but I'll keep an eye out.

I don't think so, but I'll read the label again.

As Christine posted, i'd recommend checking the FDA Recall page every day, because there is always something on there and the nice thing is that it covers human and animal food/medicines. :(

I'm sure it's been explained in detail (haven't read the whole thread), but it encompasses a lot of their food, especially the Mazuri brand.

I had a bag dated after the original recall by a few weeks and just bought a new bag which was dated after it as well.

If it took them that long to determine it was bad or at least release the info, I'm not too confident about the quality of the current batch. :(
