Not eggchel but I know the answer.
Those are sebastopol geese. I want some soooooooooooo bad. My hubby thinks they are ugly, but of course I think they are absolutely gorgeous. They remind me of a wedding dress train.

Yup, they are Sebastopols. They look like ballerinas.
They have good dispositions and arent aggressive like some geese. However, they will honk up a storm if a stranger comes into their yard.
When they molt, there are so many white feathers on the ground that it looks like a goose exploded in the pasture.

Gloria, you can probably let them out supervised to make sure your chickens wont hurt them, there might be some sort of pecking order at first, but as long as they are not hurting them real bad they should be ok and will figure out where they stand in the coop.

I am guessing you have 1 hen and 3 drakes, what breed are they? The hens will QUACK loud while the drakes will have a raspy type quack, if you pick them up you might hear it, or pick them up and take them a little out of site of there friends and they will try to talk to them to find where they are at and you could hear it then.

Sometimes hens will get the curl, and sometimes the drakes will look like hens! I have never had a hen with a curl but I have had a drake that looked like a hen. He from what I understand, I got rid of him, was not fertile. It doesnt happen to often I dont think.

If they are infact all male, looks like your friend is willing to trade you for a hen, that would be a good deal and idea, come breeding season you might find your hen with missing head and neck feathers and tore up back feathers from breeding, but then again maybe not. One drake can cover quite a few hens. So that might be a good idea to add another hen or 2.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help. I let them out yesterday into the coop and run. They did really well. The chickens seem to just ignore them and go on about their business. Of course the ducks stay together. I guess they got our routine down pretty good because they went inside by their self last night. Didn't need me to help get them in there, which was great.

I hope I don't have 1 duck and 3 drakes, but I really think they are all 3 drakes. It's nice to know Miss Jayne will trade me a duck for one of my drakes. If that is the case that 3 are drakes. She's a good woman, that Miss Jayne!

I'm totally new at the duck mom thing...my daughter came across three young ducks...I believe they are Pekin... they are still yellow and just starting to get some feathers coming on their tails.

I do have a few questions though.
1. living in southern Ont. can they be kept in the barn?
2. how old do they have to be to safely let them outside on their own?
3. do they need a pond/creek or something for swiming in the spring?
4. Right now they are in a large dog crate...is this ok for them or would they need more space. The crate is Xlg...would hold a big dog.
5. Right now they are on duck grower I think and I think they are about 3 to 5 weeks old.

I have noticed some reddish brown spots on their beaks, along the edges...could this have been caused by trying to push their beaks through wire?
6. would they need a heat lamp/or be kept in my garage...tonight it is going down to about 7Celcius...not sure what that is in f.
