Waterfowl Only Egg Swap!

I wanted to show some of the ducklings I hatched from gofasterstripe. I am super lucky to live close enough that I could drive and meet her and pick up eggs.

These are my darlings.

Photos taken 3 weeks ago.
And the last one taken a few days ago.

They go inside the brooder room at night in a plastic tub (getting much too big for it now though) and outside in the grass during the day. They are super to handle and are so well behaved!

Thank you, Nikky, for allowing me the chance to hatch and raise these gorgeous and sweet natured beauties.

She has sold all her animals and birds and moved back to scotland because she was tired of her husband and was homesick.
She left Saturday and so far he hasn't even tried to call or find out where she went. She did leave him a letter saying that was leaving and etc...

OMG! I did not know that!

I hate that! She was always so great to talk with about ducks.

I do understand being homesick, especially for some place as beautiful as Scotland. I sure will miss having a Runner duck buddy so close!

All of mine are done for the year, I think.....

I might get some more eggs this fall but it's been in the 30s here at night and the days are for sure getting shorter.

Call ducks, laying?! WHAT! That is so unheard of here for this time of year lol. I WANT SOME EGGS! haha. I have 4 little youngins from this spring, one snowy girl, a white male and two magpies (they ACTUALLY ended up being a pair! go me!) I am going to a friends farm soon to give her back one of her male mandarins and pick up my female as well as a male snowy and female white. She has lundgren lines as well as a couple of other good lines. Her calls are gorgeous. I hope I hatch out some more maggies next year so I can trade her for some BEI bantams!

Lol I have a Pair of ButterScotch (Someone told me they were Silver Apricot but I sent some pictures of that pair to some call breeders and asked them) and a White Hen.
I think its just the white duck laying since I have only seen the male mate her. So far I have 2 eggs from her! One from Sunday and one from Tuesday! I'm very suprised by how good she lays from coming from a SQ line. I'm going to guess and say you are going to Linda Zeaglers? She's a very nice lady.

I'm actually getting an itch to add another color of calls or getting a whole new breed in general! Darn that empty incubator!

My ducks are laying but I do not have them penned separately right now. I sell duck eggs for eating to stores and visitors so I haven't penned them up yet. I need to so I can get them ready for spring hatching but there is plenty of grass in the pens and I don't want them to trample it down during the winter.

I am super excited about all my Runners. Time to update my website, I suppose.
