Watering new chicks

So I read in a thread that a hard boiled egg may help the diet regarding pasty butt control. Can 5day old chicks eat this if crumpled up good?
Hello and welcome to BYC. It can, but feeding chick feed and providing water is all that they need.

I'd say yes, it should be fine, BUT know that if you feed anything to chicks you really should have grit offered on the side.

You may want to double check the exact temp in your brooder.
Having too hot of a brooder may be what is causing the pasty butt.
