hello all, I have a question. in about the last week, when i go into the coop to clean the poop off of the poop board, the pdz under the roost is very wet like they are peeing instead of pooping. it is so wet i have to toss out the pdz. i am wondering what i should do, any suggestions would be appreciated. oh i almost forgot, I did recently change their feed to another brand of layer feed
thank you

Watery poop doesn't tell us anything other than it could be from a wide range of causes, from innocent high water content diet to possible health crisis egg binding. We'd need to hear if any chickens are behaving out of the normal, such as lethargy, standing still hunched up, etc.

I will take a picture tomorrow morning when I go to clean up the coop

Updated with pictures
I forgot to mention that I was averaging about 26 eggs a day, that dropped down now to about 9 eggs.
And they are not eating as much of their feed. We are going to take a poo sample to the vet today

Are any chickens acting lethargic? Any standing around with shoulders hunched and feathers fluffed?

Does the general appetite seem okay? Or are they eating less?

The poop test can show coccidia and worms. That is probably what is going on. You've had a lot of wet weather, haven't you? It would contribute to an outbreak.

There is a chance the flock has a bacterial infection, and your vet could send a poop sample to a lab for a gram stain test for bacteria. If the fecal float is negative, that's what I would suggest.

You might also ask the vet for an antibiotic if the poop tests negative for worms and coccidia. Get a head start on treating a bacterial infection.

The fecal test was negative, the chickens are not eating like they did. One thing I did was changed what I was feeding them, the vet seems to think that is my problem
