Wattles

Do all Cockerels have wattles? I have a young (12 - 15 weeks) bird that I am pretty sure is a Roo, but I cannot definitively tel! (S)He has a pea comb, and no wattles. Do all roos/cockerels have wattles?

Can you post a picture of the bird? I'm not entirely sure if all cockerels have large wattles -- some breeds might have smaller wattles, making it hard to tell.
In most breeds, though, cockerels have larger, redder combs and wattles that develop sooner than those of the pullets.

Bearded birds will not have visible wattles.

Many pea combed breeds will have smaller wattles overall too like Easter Eggers and Brahmas when compared to single combed breeds. They may just be smaller to begin with, so harder to see

He's the pea combed one. I'm pretty sure I've got 3 cockerels

I agree. Two single combed cockerels and one pea combed one!

I have a 13 week old who looks just like your black one with no wattles. What did it turn out to be? I think mine is a roo - I’m just really clutching at straws now
