Do all chickens have wattles??

Thanks Arlee..... I didn't know. My chickens are about 4 months old now and no one has wattles yet. I didn't know if they ALL had them or if I just had chickens that didn't have them. I'm new to the chicken world. I asume they grow in before they start laying?? Or not??

They will start to come in anytime now. Around 4 months you start see rooster wattles and a few weeks later for the girls.

Pullets do have wattles, but they tend to be smaller and take a lot longer to grow in and turn bright red than a male of the same breed.

Generally, once the combs and wattles start turning bright red on a pullet, that's a sign that she is getting very near to laying age.

It's usually around 5 to 5.5 months when the girls give you that first egg

Sometimes chickens have wattles that are covered in feathers and fluff... I believe that's what the bearded ones are.

My BR chicks wattles started showing at about 4-5 weeks - they all turned out to be Roos. My white Leghorns are pullets - they are now 15 weeks old and you can barely see them. Probably varies with breed as well as sex.
