Way over my budget!

I got the number for the ReStore, and will be calling them this afternoon to get some pricing from them. I didn't even know they existed! What a great way to help the community and yourself all at the same time!! I love it!!

We do have plans for a chain link fence around their entire area. In fact we have already bought the material and started digging the holes. The coop does still need to be built pretty well as we have lots of different predators. I can't remember what they are called...those little ferret things? We've got lots of those! Lots and lots of Raccoons, Fox, Skunk, Fox, Dogs, Cats. You name it and we probably have them! We have had them get through chain link so I just want to make sure they will be completely safe at night while locked in there. No big deal. We decided to just build it a little smaller than I had hoped for. There will still be more than enough room for the girls I have now, and later down the road we will build the addition to it like I said before.

The pallet house sounds interesting. I know I can get a bunch of pallets for free! Can you send me a link with some information? Or maybe if someone who has made one can give me some advise?
You do need a live animal trap. Anyway, here is my box coop with 3/4" plywood on the 3 pile cement blocks and can stand to most large animal. It will be move and install chain link fence soon.

I love our ReStore. Plus i do a lot of volunteer work with them also, so i get to help all the way around. I'm glad i could help introduce you to there stores!

I do have live traps, however I also have barn cats who tend to get to them before any pests do! So they have pretty much not been of much use to us.

We have made our decision and put in new order for the material that we will need! Thanks so much for all your help! We will have a busy weekend building the coop and putting up the fence poles this weekend! I'll post some pictures so you can all see how it turns out! I had the babies outside every night this week and I think they will be happy to be in their new home! :)

if you do an internet search for "building with pallets" a ton of stuff comes up. My first chicken coop was made out of pallets, donated siding and salvaged shingles. I think I bought some plywood, but otherwise everything else was free. but was a small endeavor for 5 hens. I've also used pallets for a compost container and a garbage can holder in the alley. i have been considering building a small bike barn out of pallets, but haven't decided where to put it. Here is a link with good pictures of pallet building.

So we had some bad weather this weekend so we didn't get the whole thing done, but we did get all the fence posts in and part of the coop done. My brother way over calculated on the material needed so when we got most of the coop built we realized we had already bought almost enough to do tjw original big one. We just need about $30 more material! :D so next weekend we will be getting that and redoing it the way I wanted it to begin with! I'm so happy things turned out for the better on this one!

Update on the coop! We now have the 8x8 coop almost done. We have the base, floor, two walls and roof done. We framed in the two man doors and the two raise walls today and got the whole thing tarped off since it looks like rain until the first part of the weekend. We are doing a little bit each day until it gets done. My little are getting pretty cramped inside so we are taking them outside everyday to stretch their legs a little. We also need to build the nest boxes and pop doors for the coop but things are looking good for only spending about an hour a day on them!
