Oh, no, I think on of the ducklings is hurt. This morning the male duck got out of his enclosure which I don't know how since the fence was over 3 1/3 feet high but he managed. He had got to the ducklings before my hubby could make it outside to stop him. Once my hubby actualy got to him and grabed him he finaly dropped this little guy. He looked fine but now I was just outside watching them swim in the pond and he isn't using his left leg to paddle. The leg is just staying out behind him. Could this be spraddle leg or could the male have dislocated the leg? You couldn't tell how the male was carring him just that he was in the males mouth.

Should I try and bring him inside...mamma will be VERY mad.

OMG, thanks for all the nice pics..they are adorable. What kind are they? I am thinking of getting some ducks myslef..now I really want them after seeing yours too....Baby Boy though!! He needs to stay in solitary confinement for awhile.

My best guess is that they are swedish mutts.

His leg is doing a little bit better. He is at least using it some to walk on. He can take a couple of steps on it now. We are still keeping our fingers crossed that he recovers.

MMMM.... I smell a duck dinner coming up! He seems mean, he may never like duckilings and you'll deal with this year after year. Might be time to eat him and get another drake, hopefully nicer. This is normal behavior, but I probly still get rid of him.
