A few weeks ago, I figured my rooster had fertilized some eggs. So far, I've been waiting to see if the hens would go broody. I have comets and leghorn hens, and they don't get broody easily. I'm finding another way to hatch eggs, ideally at lower costs. Has anyone tried anything out and been successful?

i hatched 12 of 15 in a plastic tub with an incandecent 60w bulb in a drop cord shoplight a couple weeks back ... you cant see the entire setup in this pic, but its like a 2x3' tub with a lid you can see the corner ofthe tub in the bottom left .. theres an inner box to hold the eggs, and its sitting on folded up chicken wire to hold it off the bottom a couple of inches so there can be water in it to humidify the contraption .. the light is at the other end laying on the wire with the heat shield up so the light faces down to the water .. by sliding the lid slightly open and draping a towel over it the temp can be adjusted .. humidity is hard to get over 50% but i didnt have any issues ..
