Ways to Humanely Dispatch a Predator

Get a .22 rifle. And if you do get a rifle, for God's sake, shoot it enough to become proficient with it. A shot between the eyes into the brain will kill most anything swiftly and humanely. A bit off missing the brain, and you're in for a very traumatic experience.

If you don't feel comfortable with a rifle but can shoot a shotgun in your locale, a 12ga loaded with #4-#00 buck into the vitals will let the air out of most things, usually without so much as a twitch.

Humane is what you're after..

i would suggest a gun .22lr works great for most predators, and really any cheap one will do, right now i use a marlin 795, really want to get a savage rascal or other single shot rifle.

there like 200-250 (in Canada there most likely much cheaper down in the states) and ammo is cheap and plentiful for .22lr ammo (like 50 for 4 or 5 dollars)

I live in a small town, it’s not rural it’s more suburban, thank God I haven’t lost a chicken to a predator but I know we have foxes, raccoons, hawks, and opossums.
I would like to move to a rural area after I finish college and buy a few acres of land. I know that it’s a very real possibility that I may have to trap and dispatch a predator on the property.
What is the most humane way to dispatch a predator?
If I don’t have a gun how can I dispatch the predator in a humane way?

Humane = quick

Safe (for you) = while you are not close to predator or predator is entrapped and cannot get to you.

So, in short, a gun fired by someone proficient in the use of that gun.
