We adopted a new dog!!!

The adoption saga continues! Both our new corgi, Mia and Cherokee, our Malinios are getting along pretty well after only a couple of days. Both are active, smart and a bit domineering pooches. Cherokee is trying to compromise with Mia as she really wants another active friend (we lost our 15 year old terrier in July). I have removed the toys as they seemed to be too prized by both dogs. We are being careful as they are both spayed females which tends to be a tougher mix than boy/girl.

Today is better--they even raced around the yard with happy open mouths and some playful barking. Mia tried to harass our chickens and barked at them while racing around their coop/run but our chickens were not impressed and barely batted an eyelid so the newness wore off quickly.

Well day 3 ensues...

They are becoming fast friends. It makes me soooo happy to see Cherokee having such fun with Mia.

Today we reintroduced some toys. I chose not too highly prized ones to hopefully avoid a ruckus and will only have them out when I am there (just in case). Neither tried to steal the one the other dog had which is a great sign! I am so pleased that they are getting along well enough to actually share toys!

I will not let down my guard just yet due to this breakthrough as both are very confident females which can be, well for lack of a better word, catty.

Im thinking of adopting another dog but i dont know if my other dog Jake( 3 year old yellow lab) would feel like we love the other dog better. It would be just to keep him company during the day because all my family works for most of the day. It would have to be a female dog but i dont know what breed. Does Anyone have a breed in mind that are good loyal pets?
