We are getting a Rottweiler pup Tommorrow!! Pics!

Thanks for all the comments I would love to hear from you people who have rotts and hear your stories and see your pics! I'm so excited to finally be able to get one of these guys and being able to save a homeless one is a big bonus.

My big male was named Zeus

I love names after Greek Mythology. I name all my rabbits after constallations, stars or Greek god or Goddesses of sun, moon, stars etc.
I like that name and I like Cane too. Im going to ck out his personality for a while to get a feel for him to see what would be fitting for him.

It's funny that you say that because when we went to pick up the rott the lady that originally saved the pup said the lady that dumped him on her said that he was Rott and Old English Bull Dog. Either way I think he's gorgeous and I love him, all my dogs have at least some bulldog in them and I love it. This guy has a docked tail and his fur is real fine but soft like Cashmere. He also has a small white slash across the back of his neck. He is like the cutest puppy in the whole world. I can't stop kissing his forhead and enjoying the puppy breath kisses. He is sleeping with us tonight. I always do that with my puppies til they are about 9 to 10 weeks then they are pretty much potty trained and can hold theirselves longer. He is already doing a great job of whining when he needs to go out.

I love rotts. I have 2 mixes and a pure bred. I also love greek myth names.

My first is Argos. I will have to get pics up. He looked pure as a pup and his mom was pure. But he only topped out at 65lbs. He is smart as a whip! He learns commercials on tv and barks at all the dogs. He will come running when he hears a commercial that has a dog in it, wait for the dog, bark and then go back to doing what he was doing. He is now 8 years old.

A year later got a call that I might want a Rott. Well I said no and a friends friend said yes. We went to pick him up and I fell in love. They decided they didn't want him cause he didn't have papers and they wanted to use him to breed. So I ended up with him. Originally I called him Gemini. But it didn't fit. Cerberus did (pronounced Sir- Brrr-us). That is the three headed hound of hell. This dog wouldn't hurt a flea, but is very big and has very dark markings. People are initially afraid of him. He also has several scars on his legs and ears. He is my protector. I can't wait to have kids because he absolutely loves kids. He is actually licking my fingers right now! LOL He is estimated at 9 years old and acts 3.

A year and a half ago I got a feeling to go to Petfinder. I try to stay off of that site cause I want to save them all. Well I see a rott/shep puppy listed as going to be Euthanized at 8am. It is now 2am. I call. I email. I set an alarm and call the moment they open. I get to save him. He is a cute but sick pup. I had the vet pick him up from the pound before his neuter date because he was so sick. They thought it was Parvo and treated as such, but the test came back negative. The next day he was 100% better (after days of diarrhea and not eating). He is a trip. We called him Titan. Really not sure if he has any rott or shep, but I will say he is part sight hound. He is 47 pounds and has a big chest and a skinny waist. He is a great dog. A little crazy sometimes but that is something we like about him.

Like I said I'll have to find some pics for you. I'll see if I can find Argos's puppy pics. He looked pure.

Good luck with your little guy.

Aww, how cute! How about Ronan for a name? It's similar without you having to recycle a name, and I do love that "onan" sound. It's just perfect for a rottie.

My grandparents keep rotts, usually mixes. They gave up trying to find them at local shelters though because they were told that rotts were one of the breeds that the shelter had some sort of no chance policy on. Apparently the shelters aren't allowed to adopt out any rotts they take in, so it can be a hassle finding new dogs for my grandparents. They sure are worth the hassle, though. Sweet and loyal, looks that would scare away trespassers but with personalities like giant love sponges . . . um, well, more personality than a sponge, naturally, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Congrats!

We have a 3 year old sweetie named Brutus. He's no genius but he is a lover! Years ago I had the smartest most well behaved girl named Onyx. I really can't imagine not having a Rottie.
