We are moving and cannot have chickens anymore

My family and I will be moving into my Mom's house for a few
years while my DW finishes nursing school. We are gonna rent out
or sell our current house. The trouble is we won't have the space
for chickens and local ordinances prohibit them.

It's not easy letting the girls go but they will all have great new
homes.

We will eventually buy a large enough piece of land and start
building a house on it. My wife wants horses and we NEED our
chickens.

And yes, we will sneak a silkie hen or two, even if they have
to become house chooks.

So sorry to hear that!

Didn't you just order a crazy amount of chickens?

It's all ok. I posted this so people would know my situation.

We won't be moving until October so my meat birds will be
processed by then.

I am very blessed to have this opportunity. If we stayed where
we are we would not be able to afford to buy land for several
years. My mom has a good size house that needs some work.
I'll spend the next couple years fixing her house up, my wife will
become an RN, and we'll be in a much stronger financial
position.

We are doing this for all the right reasons. We don't have to do it
but in the grand scheme of things will give us a more secure future.

A few years goes fast...

Oh nooooooo!

That must have been a hard decision, but so worth it - we need good nurses!

That is the truth! I will reach my 51st BD soon and I am sure that is only a temporary marker - life is as you live it. I live mine much younger and amaze folks who know me. '

So you and yours need to amaze those around you.

But, will you at least keep a couple of hens come Dec?

PC to put it simply this just sucks. You better stay on BYC, it just wouldn't be fun without you

Your always welcome at our house to get a chicken fix

Best of luck on your adventures and keep in touch. I too will be losing daily contact with my birds when I start school out of state. Sorry you can't even keep yours "home" so to say. It will be better in the long run, just think, you could make a 20x40 barn and fill it with birds!!!
