our house is in contract and we will be moving soon.
not sure exactly when yet, or where but we are.
we are trying very hard to find a place in the country
with a bit of land so we can have some chickens finally.

it is a bitter sweet move. we have wanted sell for a
while now but were waiting for the right time. then in
nov hubby lost his job. he has been unable to find a new
one since. our savings is almost gone and we have been
mailing out 100+ emails a week and havent had any one
contact us yet. sigh. so we are praying something comes
up soon so we can find a place based on where the job is.
we currently live in central Cols. but have been looking all
over the state for work. many the job market is so tough
right now!

Come to the Youngstown area, the houses are dirt cheap and in Austintown and Canfield livestock is allowed, in Y-town you have to fly under the radar.

I'm sorta in the same boat. House for sale, don't know where I'll be going if it sells. It's my parents house they bought as an investment. Look how well that went. They're self-employed, but it's a roofing business, so it's slooooow going. I want to move somewhere I can have chickens, but it's all up in the air until we sell. Since it's not even my house, I have no control over anything. I just try to keep being positive, it can't stay bad forever! Eventually things will work out for both of us!

Edit, I googled your town. Connie can you really buy a house there for $10,000?

really?? wow.
uhmmm is it a "bad" neighborhood?

the house across from me is in foreclosure and costs 4900$ but will need some work , somebody tried to steal the wall AC and it was never replaced. The house next to it runs 35.000$ its a brick home but needs basement repair. Yes you can buy a house for that little money . i will write more later, DH needs the compi

oh wow uhmm yes please come back later and tell me more.
and what about jobs around there? hubby is a general contractor/remodeler.
oh so a fixer upper house is great for us too.

My head aches. Just did a search of my town starting "low to high" and the lowest $109,000, and it's pending. Lowest in Youngstown is $3,650. I suppose it could be worse. I could live in California, where the lowest is like... $500,000.

The thing I loved about Ohio when I was there was the wonderful people.

I spent time in Ashland, Bucyrus and Alpha... a little hamlet between Dayton and Xenia.

I've also spent time running around Mentor and Hyrum areas in between. :0)

Keep the faith, there has to be a job out there for him.

Jobs are a bit hard to come by, but you know the problem is all over the state. The Chevy plant just let a bunch of folks go, i hear though they will rehire ower cost workers, they will build the Chevy Cruze there. There are tons of empty houses in the city, i think around 23.000 or so. You need to stay away from the south side at all costs, high crime area. The best in the city itself is the West side, that is where we live.
But as i said poultry is not legal in the city limits of Youngstown.
You just need to check the ordinances of whereelse it is legal i know Washintonville is legal i will check where else. THere is a revitalization project going on where they want to restore or tear down old homes so that might be a good thing.
