my daughter's big calico cat was smart enough to keep herself safe.

I was sure she was gone. Irritable neighbors, 100+ heat, busy street not far away, etc, etc. We haven't seen her for about a week, now.

Found her this afternoon ... she has been holed up on top of the motor of DH's F250, sitting in the driveway. Guess she decided it was the safest place to be since he's out of town again.

Glad she is safe. I hate that cats like to climb into engines. I lost a cat I had when I was young after she climbed into the engine compartment of my b/f's car.

This one usually stays inside; AND I saw the animal control officer in the neighborhood the other day. We were lucky I guess. She's not letting me get too far out of her sight right now.
