We did it....Eggs!!!!!

We only need the other 6 to step up. Plus why are they do noisy afterwards. Lol
They are singing the escort call!💕 Frequently called the egg song, but actually to alert the (non-existent) rooster that they’re done laying and need an escort back to the rest of the flock. An instinct from old days of wild chickens free-ranging.

Well this morning was awakened be a lot of chicken talk. We got our first eggs. Yes eggs. The confusing part is one chicken making a ton of noise but found 2 eggs in the same box. So two different chickens or a double header. Look at the picks identical size and color and both warm. We have an ROI of 2 eggs for 3K. Lol. But these gals are the best therapy.
Looks like you got off cheep, pun intended. :lau

I heard it was to let other chickens know the nesting box was avaliable. OK, that is what Google said

My first laying hen, layed 2 tiny eggs her first time. I have cameras in all the nest boxes. video showed no eggs in the nest, then she went in after about 2 hours she left and 2 tiny little white eggs were left. No other hen went in the nest while she was laying the eggs.
the interesting thing is these eggs were white, the next egg she layed the next day was Light green, every egg since then has been light brown. The other interesting thing is every egg she has layed has been a double yolk. The first eggs just had them packaged separately. I have 35 hens and for the past 2 weeks more and more eggs have been showing up. I got my first normal sized egg yesterday as all of the other ones have been on the small side. I had 2 eggs layed without shells, I believe it is because it was 105 degrees that day. once the temperatures dropped not more shellless eggs.

Because they have to announce their accomplishment to the world! 😂 We have a Welsummer that will join in on the “egg song” with each of the other girls when they lay. Plus, if she wants to lay and someone else is in HER box, she will throw a HUGE fit. It’s so funny how they’ll use 1 box out of 6 available.
