We did it... Jake Went to Freezer Camp! First One for Us

Well, this is the first time we ever actually culled a rooster; I let Tom do it since he's the one Jake really had it in for, LOL. Never had anything except a chick or a dying hen we had to help along. Hopefully, no more mean roosters for awhile!

Lucky...

We had Light Brahma Alfredo for dinner tonight.

I had a major surplus of roosters.

Thank you so much for this! I honestly just read it as my guy came up the stairs with hopefully the last of the roos. I told him about Freezer Camp and he loved it! It is stressful having to do this.
...a few minutes later - Ron says the last one that might be a roo was guarding over the four we KNOW are hens when he was looking at them just now. DANG!

I was awoken this morning at three and four and five and so on by NO CROWING!!! The silence was pleasantly deafening. Yay - we are left with five hens and the killing is over. One eaten - two still in Camp Frigidaire and one attending Camp Kenmore tonight...

GOOD JOB!!!! See, it isn't so hard!

I am truly thankful there are other folks who have a since of humor on the eating of our birds, and I am not the only one.

I was labeled a freak by my co-workers for bringing "Mr. salad" one day from my first cull...Mr. is the beautiful boy in my avitar..and man was he good eats!!!

I do, however, LOVE the "freezer camp" one and will mess with the co-workers on the next one

DH had to ask me what I was rolling about as I read this thread

Love them, feed them, nurture them, eat them...sounds like a perfect circle to me!

Have a wonderful day all
