Regarding the lawns my neighbor and I agreed not to mow much this year.We have weed lawns while some people still spray theirs.Others cut weekly.Around here if the city gets a bug up the butt you can get cited for weeds or grass height. I am making more gardens than lawns,so maybe I will get a ticket for that.Lol,front yard gardens seem to offend.

Geesh, I wish they would cite cell phone/txting drivers with that much gusto!

I remember our one grocery had milk in glass jugs.It DID cost more and you had to return the glass, but I loved the milk.Cream on the top and from a local farmer. That was just 8-10 years ago or so.It only lasted a few years.Guess not enough people got the milk.Bummer it was good.

I miss the aluminum machines you could take the cans to for money. Now you are expected to give all recycle stuff to the city and THEY make the money.Shoot, they don't even share the mulch and compost they make from fall leaf collections. The least they could do is sell some at a discount.

I recycle but I do it more at home instead of passing it on to others. I am giving SOME pop cans to the kids school for their save the rainforest collection, but we are going to make a solar heater in the summer with much of the cans.

A lot of good and bad going on in each generation. As long as me and my family do right I am not going to blame or point fingers.Always easier to blame others.

I think you and I must have been separated at birth. We think a lot alike. If you wanted to talk to a friend, you either called from that thing on the wall or climbed on your Schwinn or put those canvas Converses to good use. We wrecked the environment buying appliances that lasted 30 years not 3. Electronics that lasted 25 years and not 5. New versions of things came out every 10 years not 6 months. There was no such thing as plastic bags when I was young just good old paper bags that were used to cover school books. And those bags didn't tear when you carried them. I could go on and on......Being green is hardly ever green.

We can't put the blame on any one generation. It's all of the above, cumulative and exponential, each generation adding to and fixing where they see fit or necessary. I find it amusing though that my 90 year old grandfather complains about the generation he created and their generation and the next, as if he had nothing to do with it. I enjoy poking fun at him, reminding him that he "started it".

What you mean back then, I still try to do these things whenever possible, family hates when I say " If you gotta turn the light on to do something, then you should of done it earlier in the day"

I have to come up with a coin operated light switch. All I do is walk around shutting off lights, now I know why my mother used yell about it. My DW is guilty as the kids but complains about the electric bill. She will take something out of the toaster oven but doesn't turn it off,she says she doesn't want to break the timer.

If I could have my way, for one week, I could shut the greenies up, forever. We'll just turn the clock back 80- 100 years. You'll spend an hour or more of your day, just tending to your mode of transportation, being sure it is happy and healthy, and you can throw a saddle on it, tommorrow.

Then, you'll spend 30 minutes chopping wood for the day's cooking and heating.

There's tending the garden, milking the cow, washing clothes on a scrub board, and only taking a hot bath, once a week...Need I go on?
