After months of debating and obtaining permissions, we finally got the green light to get my son a few chickens. In short order, I found a gentleman on Craigslist thinning his flock and bought from him 3 black silkies (2 hens and a rooster) and a new coop with supplies. Brought it home last week and the chickens are doing great! Currently looking at adding a couple of layers to the flock and a secondary coop. Ideally we'd like to have 4-5 hens.
