We've acquired a rescue chicken from a vet because we're softhearted fools.

Now I'm worried that she's a he.

Thoughts? (Also, RIR?)

(These are all the same chicken.)

We got her almost a month ago, and she was still fuzzy. The feathers have mostly grown in now, but I would guess ... eight weeks? 10 weeks? I have no idea how old she is. She's very small -- still peeping and cheeping, and she can't mix with our six nearly year-old ladies because they're very hard on her, pecking a lot.

I guessed production because its general color looks lighter than my RIRs and most others I have seen. Most RIRs I have seen have some black or near-black feathers mixed in their tails and darker red feathers on their necks. I am pretty new to chickens though so I certainly could be wrong...

To say he's around ten weeks old, he doesn't have a very big / red comb though does he? All the boys i've ever had have had really big bright red combs by that age. Although i don't know about feather shape indicating a boy or anything... *crosses fingers for a girl*
