We got our first dark egg!

I am not impressed with the quality from Meyer. We also ordered a cuckoo marans.... She is laced/pencilled, not barred....
Darn, I was thinking about ordering some Marans from them too...2 yrs. ago I got a cuckoo maran from McMurrays, the eggs were not dark at all..I was very very disappointed. she had babies with the maran rooster also from the same batch and the babies eggs are a light milk choc. I am impressed. only thing is now, the rooster is dead...oh well back to the drawing board. next time I get Marans, they will be from a breeder. But Congrats on your first egg...and your hens are very pretty.

The third "rare Marans" laid her first egg today- Oddball the one with the funny crest and white earlobes...

White egg. pretty safe to say she is NOT a marans
