We got our first egg!

It's sooooooo PURDY!

Our Jumbo brown Coturnix just gave us our first egg! She's 8 weeks old tomorrow.

I went in their room to close a window and there it was in the front corner of the cage! It actually startled me and I had to take a second look!

Hubby says 20 more and he has an omelet.

I think I should eat the first one.. he he...

Tell Hubby that if you had 40 laying hens, then he could have 2 omelets a day.....They lay huge eggs for their size, but you don't get jumbo chicken eggs from such small birds!
With coturnix, it's not about size, it's about volume!

My quail adventure started with just 8 babies I saw on craigslist, intending in a incubator and more down the road.
Hubby knows this and teases about the size of the birds and eggs regardless. He calls samiches. I keep telling him their offspring will be to eat! These are my spoiled rotten babies!

I hope you get yours soon too! But being Bob's I think you may have a little bit to go. Maybe they will be early birds. ;-)
(I have parakeets on eggs!)

Here's our 1st egg. May wait for a few more to scramble and share, haven't decided yet.

Hi Missi!

We have Easter Egger Chickens, Jumbo Brown Coturnix, Texas A & M Jumbo Cot. and Button in there. All from Quaillady.

Due to hatch around the 16th.

I'm excited and can't wait to see them too!
The mail shook them up pretty good so praying for a good hatch.
