I have an American Lavender and something that looks the same, only has a gray bill and mostly grey with some yellow on its legs.

We've had chickens for two years and ducks for one; this is our first foray into Geese.

I must say they're more dignified than the ducks. Much like a junior in high school compared to the freshmen (ducks) or grade schoolers (chicks) that have inhabited our farm up until now.

So far I'm happy!

are you going to keep the geese with the chickens? ive been wondering if i could keep roman tufted goose with my chickens. i really would love to have a goose but im not sure that the close by neighbors would like the honking and if the goose would go after the hens

I'm brooding them with three ducks and five chicks in the hopes of having an integrated flock. I want the geese as guardians to raise a ruckus if there's something wrong.

I hope they stay mellow. I don't know if I have a pair or not; I got two assorted ones. A pair would be nice, but these are just to have around to honk.

I have two american lavenders (don't meet many people with them

) and they are so sweet natured. They have been very easily integrated into a flock of chickens and today I put the ducklings in the pen with everyone (behind some chicken wire).

I haven't had ducks before the three I got a month ago, so I'm looking forward to the personality differences. Geese are very regal and seem to have very high self esteem

. The ducklings are skittish and panic a lot, over nothing. They seem more naturally comical in their behavior than geese.

I raised my january chick hatch of 40 with 10 baby geese and they stay together all the time when free ranging, no problems with hawks looking for a quick meal, to many geese in the way.
