We got some chicks today!

Well we got chicks today, after trying to decide what breeds to go with and such we just went to our local farm store to see what they had. We ended up getting 3 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Buff Orpingtons and 4 Black Australorps. We also got 2 Mystery chicks,lol. My kindergarted class hatched some eggs and my daughters talked the other teacher into letting them take 2 home, I think they are Americana crosses. We also got 2 ducklings, have no ideas what breed but, the kids picked out the "ugly" duckling and the littlest one so we will see what we get. I did see that they are going to be getting some Barred Rocks in so we may try to sneak a couple more chickies in,lol. All the breeds we got were on our list, now if I could only find some Silver Laced Wyandottes, that would be at least a couple of every breed the kids liked. My husband said to quit while we are ahead, he doesn't want to have to do an addition to the coop before he even gets the first version totally done!

You will be very happy with all of the breeds that you chose. I don't know anything about ducks, though, but I've got all of the breeds of chickens that you mentioned and I like them a lot. You KNOW that you will be getting more so hubby should start planning that addition while he is building the first section

Congrats on the new additions. I have a mixed flock and love them all, they look so pretty when they strut around, all different colors.
