I'm so sorry for your loss, Ren must have been a fabulous creature to warrant so much love from you. Although it is awful that he was taken too soon, it sounds like he had a quality of life that most roosters would be jealous of. Try to remember and take comfort in the happy days I'm sure there were many.

My deepest sympathies, you really do get attached to the good boys, mine is always addressed as my chicken son.

My husband always said that he was like a 3rd child, well 4th if he included himself haha.

They absolutely do! He was certainly one of a kind. He kicked off our family's adventure into homesteading.

Oh my! I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet Ren ( is that from ren & stimpy?? I loved that show!! I still have ren & stimpy stuffed animals and im 40! Sad, i know) it can be really hard to say goodbye to that dear friend especially if you keep thinking about what you could have done. But, its not your fault! How he got the name Ren was; when we first found him we didn't know if it was a pullet or cock so we name him Henrietta when he started crowing we changed his name to Ren for our 'Rooster-Hen' haha. I'll definitely and add you!!
