Last night at 8:30pm we became the proud parents of our first chick. It was on day 22 but we had a power outage and was told to hold on, so we did. We have another one pipping now. My son was saying come on boy last night and today he is saying it makes too much noise. I am still working on posting pictures. I just can't seem to figure out how to do it. I took about 20 pictures of it because it was the first one we ever hatched. We took it out of the bator today because it was standing on my RIR's and lifting the bator lid up. I held (her Im hoping) in my hands and she started pecking at me. I loved it. Iwant to say thank you to everyone that helped me and I can't wait to do it again. I have learned so much from BYC. Next time I'm getting the eggs from someone local.

Questions? Can you spoil a chick? Do they ever sleep? We only have the one so far. I put it in a small dog crate with a cardboard box around it. Well some how it got out and at 5:30am my DH gave it to me, well I'm half asleep so I put it next to me and it tucked right in and it was still all the time it was next to me. So at 7am I put it back in the crate and it started peeping again. Well after 15minutes I got it back out and held it again. It walked up to my head and tucked right in by my neck. Can I spoil it? It can sleep with me all night but I don't think my DH would like that. I may be sleeping on the couch again tonight. I think I'm in love.

That baby needs a playmate. That would take some of the strain off of you. Yes, you can spoil them. Sounds like, well, maybe, you have already. That's cute that it snuggles into your neck. Get that baby another chick to bond with, you can also try a little stuffed animal. Inspect the stuffed animal to make sure that it does not have any loose parts that the chick could choke on. Good Luck!!!!

I have one that hatched this morning and one piping, so maybe by tonight he will have a playmate.
